The OG Japan Trip (2024)

Day 10 : Return to Tokyo

We didn’t stay in Hokkaido for long because we were already heading back to Tokyo for our last few days in Japan. It started with a very early train, followed by about seven and a half hours of music and naps before we finally arrived.

This time our Airbnb was actually someone’s house, which made it a little tricky to find at first, but once we did it turned out to be really cozy.

With what little daylight we had left, we wandered around Ikebukuro, which is where the house was located. The area had a pretty interesting vibe. There were a lot of guys who looked like they could have stepped straight out of a yakuza movie, standing around near the sign girls and keeping an eye on things.

But the real highlight of the night was food.

We ate at Yoshinoya, which is now—kind of—my favorite place in the world.

Have you ever had a bowl that’s just beef, rice, and onions, but somehow the onions taste like beef and the beef tastes like absolute heaven?

And the best part?
The whole thing costs about $4. Another $1 if you want more beef.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I was immediately obsessed. Don’t get me wrong I am definitely a curry guy but its up there.

Just a normal travel day.
