Day 6 : Conclusion, What now?
Here I am, spending my last day in the comfort of my friend’s mom’s house, writing this post. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading—I hope you enjoy the future posts.
This entire week has exceeded my expectations completely. I know my host probably doesn’t realize how much gratitude I feel, but expressing emotions or showing gratitude has always been a weak suit of mine—something I’m actively working on.
None of this would have been possible without her. She let me use her house as my home base, helped me get my documents, introduced me to new people, took me to local spots, and even helped me improve my Japanese. Honestly, this was the perfect start to the trip.
My current state of Japanese: I can still read and write katakana, but no kanji. My ability to speak and convey ideas is decent, though complex sentences are still a challenge. I’m missing a lot of vocabulary, and listening/comprehension is definitely my weakest skill.
So what’s next? Tomorrow, I’ll be walking to Yaizu, where I have an Airbnb—it’s 23 km away, and the forecast says 100% chance of rain. After two days there, I’ll be walking to a city between Yaizu and Hamamatsu, where I’ll stay for four days in a shared house. After that… I honestly have no idea where I’ll be staying or what I’ll be doing. The plan is to keep moving toward Nagoya. I also hope to take a train back here in a week to attend the Sakura Matsuri (festival).
